The best tourist SIM card for the Netherlands

You plan a trip to the Netherlands?

So, you’re travelling to the Netherlands and you’re planning to not only visit Amsterdam to see all the famous museums and parks, but also Rotterdam and Groningen. You’re already looking forward to all sights and specially to tasting all the delicious specialties. Bitterballen, Stroopwafel, Dutch Fries, poffertjes and many more mouthwatering dishes! Needless to say, you want to stay online to keep in touch with your friends and to share all your experiences. However, which is the best tourist SIM card for the Netherlands?

How to stay online

There are three main cell networks in the Netherlands, operated by KPN, Vodafone and T-Mobile. KPN has the largest network, followed by Vodafone and T-Mobile. Its resellers often offer better pricing for prepaid customers, so look out for those (for example Lebara or Lycamobile). To purchase a SIM, you only have to go into a mobile phone shop and choose the SIM which you want. Getting a SIM is mostly (but not always) straightforward, however, purchasing a TopUp is often quite nerve-racking. So, buying a local SIM card might not be the best touristic option you have. You’re surely better off buying a Travel SIM card. You can order one online before your departure and you can even activate it prior to your trip. You’ll have access to Internet immediately after landing!
