Q-SIM
The Q-SIM includes an initial data package for Zone Global with a validity period of 90 days. The size of the initial data package can vary, depending on the sales channel and/or retail price. The data volume can be consumed in the entire Zone Global (find details in the Coverage Section). The activation of the Q-SIM will automatically activate the initial data package.
The Q-SIM has an indefinite validity if you keep using it. A Q-SIM will be deactivated after 180 days of inactivity. Inactivity means that there has been no data traffic nor a Q-TopUp (data package) has been activated during the last 180 days . As soon as you generate data traffic or activate a new Q-TopUp (data package), the 180 days period restarts. In case you want to re-activate a deactivated Q-SIM, please contact our support. Please be aware that we only can reactivate a Q-SIM within a period of 365 days after the SIM has become deactivated.
The Q-SIM supports all form factors:
- Mini SIM - 2FF

Why does my mobile device display the message “SIM is not accepted”?
To use the Q-SIM card, you need to have an unlocked mobile device (some devices can be locked to specific service providers or mobile operators).
If your mobile device is locked by a service provider or a mobile operator, please contact your mobile operator and ask if you can use SIM cards of other operators or, in case your device can work with SIM cards of your operator only, if your operator can unlock your device.
Connection and cellular network
Why do I lose my APN settings?
The Q-SIM is virtually several SIM cards united in one. Depending on the country and cellular network, the Q-SIM selects the correct virtual SIM card. Certain devices require to re-set the APN after the virtual SIM cards has changed by changing a country or continent. We are working on solutions to improve the user experience.
Why can’t I connect to the Internet, although the device is connected to the cellular network?
If your device is connected to a cellular network, but there is no Internet connection, you should:
- Ensure you have an active data package
- Check your device settings.
- Flight Mode is off
- Mobile/Cellular Data is enabled
- Roaming data is enabled
- The name of the APN (access point) is “chili” (without quotations)
- On Apple devices running iOS 8.x, the "EU Internet" option should be turned off.
If the mobile data session is not established please restart your device.
Where can I find coverage details for in a specific country?
Please visit maps.mobileworldlive.com and select country and network you are looking for.
Why is my mobile device not connecting to the cellular network?
This means that your mobile device is not registered in the cellular network. Make sure that you are within the coverage range of Qynamic. You can find the complete Qynamic coverage on our website. Completely turn off and then turn on your device following the instructions under the Support>Device configuration section.
Make sure you are using an unlocked mobile device supporting 2G, 3G or 4G.
Why does my mobile device display the message "Emergency calls only"?
This means that your mobile device is not registered in the cellular network.
- Make sure that you are within the coverage range of the Qynamic Zones. You can find Qynamic's coverage information on www.qynamic.com.
- Make sure you are using an unlocked mobile device supporting 2G, 3G or 4G.
- Completely turn off and then turn on your device following the instructions under Help>Device configuration section.
Why is my Internet connection so slow?
The data transfer speed in a cellular network depends on:
- Your location in relation to cellular network antennas
- The amount of traffic in the cell of the cellular network you are in (e.g. during peak hours the speed can be lower because the cell channel splits its capacity between all the users in the area).
- The number of applications running in the background of your device and using (transferring or downloading) data can affect the overall connection speed.
- The network technology used (2G, 3G or 4G)
How to find out if my device is locked by an operator or service provider?
Please visit www.imei.info to find out if your device is locked.
Why do I get "You are not subscribed to a cellular data service"?
If your device displays a connection error message (e.g. "Could not activate cellular data network" etc.), please ensure:
- Flight Mode is off
- Mobile/Cellular Data is enabled
- Roaming data is enabled
- The name of the APN (access point) is “chili” (without quotations)
- On Apple devices running iOS 8.x, the "EU Internet" option should be turned off
- Completely turn off and then turn on your device
For detailed device configuration please see Help>Device configuration section.
Why does my Samsung Device ask for a "SIM Network Unlock PIN"?
Samsung devices running Android 4.3 or later, including the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are equipped with a region lock from the manufacturer. First usage is only possible with a SIM card sold in approved markets. Other SIM cards request a "SIM Network Unlock PIN".
To remove the region lock, you need to make a phone call for 5-7 minutes with a SIM card from the region the device was sold. Afterwards the region lock is removed and you can insert any other SIM card. For further information please google "Samsung regional lock".
Do I need to change something in the SIM application?
The Q-SIM card hosts an application called STK (SIM Tool Kit). This application is vital for the correct functionality of the Qynamic service. To ensure a proper working, IMSI selection must be set on “automatic”
It is strongly recommended NOT to change anything in SIM application (STK) of the Q-SIM. See also Help>SIM Tool Kit (STK) section.
Personal Account and Qynamic App
Does the Qynamic App have to be on the same device as the Q-SIM?
You don’t need to have the Qynamic App on the same device as the Q-SIM.
E.g. you can have the Qynamic App on your Smartphone and the Q-SIM in a MiFi. Just be aware that you need to configure the device with the Q-SIM inserted. For details visit the support section.
Why do we request to register a Credit Card?
When you have bought a Q-SIM at a point of sale, you still need to register your credit card when activating the Q-SIM with the Qynamic App. First of all, due to regulatory reasons, we use your credit card details as a verification and identification of your person. Secondly, we want to make it easy for you to buy additional data packages at a later stage without going through the hassle of entering the credit card details again.
How can I recover my password?
You can recover your password in the Qynamic App.
Support Services
Where do I get support?
You will find additional information about the Qynamic offer and services on www.qynamic.com and in the Qynamic App. Additionally you can also contact us under support@qynamic.com.

You can use any communication app such as Facetime, iMessage, Skype, Viber, etc. with a Q-SIM without any problem. Communication apps which are linked to your mobile number (e.g. WhatsApp) are the exception and need special actions (See also "Using WhatsApp with Q-Travel").
Using WhatsApp with Q-Travel?
WhatsApp only allows to be active on one device at the time. There are 3 options to use WhatsApp with Q-SIM:
1. You have inserted Q-SIM into the device you are using WhatsApp - WhatsApp will ask if you want to keep the number. Select keep the number.
2. You have inserted Q-SIM into a second smartphone and want to use WhatApp on this phone. When starting WhatsApp, it will ask for a number and SMS confirmation. Enter your number from your first device. You receive a confirmation code on the first device which you enter on the second device. Be aware, that WhatsApp is just active on one device at the time.
3. You have inserted Q-SIM into a second device (Smartphone or MiFi) and use it as Mobile Hotspot. Connect your Smartphone with WLAN to your second device and use WhatsApp as usual.
What causes unintentional data use and how do I prevent it?
Some of the most common internet activities that can generate high data usage are: prolonged video streaming sessions, online interactive gaming, movie/torrent downloads. Additionally, automatic system, mobile app and cloud updates, photo synchronisation and in-browser video/audio auto streaming can consume your mobile data in the background. Find below a list of Internet activities that cause rapid data consumption. Please be aware, this is an indicative only and non-exhaustive list. The generated data consumption is the responsibility of the customer. Please monitor your online activities on the app.
Automatic Background Updates
Certain apps and services perform automatic updates in the background. You can turn off background app refresh for just some or all your apps and services.
Auto-Sync and iCloud Backup
Please be aware that your mobile device tries to sync all your data with your e-mail account or remote drive. This can generate heavy data usage when syncing things like photos and other heavy files. To avoid this you can change your settings for iCloud.
Automatic Download of iOS Updates
When an iOS device is connected to WiFi and charging, it often downloads various system updates automatically without your knowledge. Please pay attention to this in case you use the Q-SIM in a mobile Hotspot and you connect your iPhone to it. In order to prevent updates from downloading automatically you can ensure that your iOS device is not connected to Mobile Hotspot WiFi and plugged into a power source at the same time.
iOS WiFi Assist
This new feature was introduced in iOS 9 and it is meant to improve your web surfing experience by turning on mobile data connection when your WiFi signal is too weak. In order to disable WiFi assist, go to Settings>Mobile>Scroll down through the list of apps which are permitted to use mobile data and toggle WiFi assist off.
Video Auto-Play
Facebook's auto-play feature means that when you are scrolling through your feed, any video that’s been posted will automatically play in the background. Make sure to change the settings of your social media apps to avoid unwanted data consumption. E.g. on Facebook go to Settings>Facebook>Settings and scroll down to Video and switch Auto-play OFF.
Push Notifications and E-mail Fetching
Most applications are using Push Notifications service to alert you. To avoid high data usage just disable notifications on your device. E-mail might also lead to high data usage. To have a better control you can switch your e-mail client from "push" to "fetch manually" e-mails.
Background Downloads
Peer to Peer file sharing or downloading music and videos may result in high data usage. When using the Q-SIM make sure to disable all Peer to Peer platforms on your device.
SIM Tool Kit (STK)
What is the SIM Tool Kit?
The Q-SIM hosts several "virtual" SIM cards and is managed by the SIM Tool Kit (STK). The STK is located on the Q-SIM and allows to make modification to the selection of the virtual SIM cards:
- Switch between automatic and manual selection mode of the virtual SIM cards. On the STK is is called "Country selection"
- Select manualy the virtual SIM card. In the STK this is called "Country".
Attention: usually there is no need to access the STK and make modification. However if you do so, please be aware that you should ensure the selection mode is set back to automatic. The Q-SIM solution will on work properly in this mode.
Where to find the SIM Tool Kit?
